I currently tutor students online in small groups and one to one. I am based in London and I also tutor from my home. However now the vast majority of my work is online tutoring.
Online tutoring and how it works.
The tutorials take place over skype, google meet or zoom. I use screen share and students are able to see my whiteboard where we work through questions together and we talk through examples and solutions in real time. Students can also share their work with me using their phone cameras. I have become well versed in the tools and software available in order to make the tutorials as effective as possible, with sharing and keeping notes and a record of work and progress, using google classroom. Online tutoring is as effective as face-to-face tuition.
Location
No matter what your location, the tutorial can take place online. You can be anywhere in the World and the tutorial can still take place. All you need is a laptop and a smart phone.
This concept is new to most parents; however, I will walk you through all the steps and software required to make these tutorials work effectively.
Furthermore, students don’t have to settle for a local tutor who is within commuting distance. they can select the best tutor to help them achieve their goals, wherever they are in the world. No time is spent traveling. You will be amazed at how easy it is to access online tutorials and how well they work to help students achieve the required results.
Time
Online tutoring offers much greater flexibility with tutorial times; students can schedule the tutorial to take place at their preferred time, whether this is during a free lesson at college, during homework time, or after school. Tutorials can also be spread out through the week as required in the case a student wants multiple hours a week.
Availability
Regardless of circumstances, with online tutorials it is always possible to keep commitments and never miss a tutorial. I will always be available when a tutorial is required and also it gives much improved flexibility with last minute tutorials close to exams. Or over the summer holidays when students are preparing for school, college or university entrance exams.
Resources
I have compiled a large collection or teaching resources in the 20 years I have been tutoring, I store worksheets, books and exam papers electronically which I am able to share with students during online tutorials.
Homework/ Prep work
My tutoring style is based around prep work; all homework is designed to give students further practice with material taught in the weekly tutorial. All Set homework is uploading to the students individual google classroom on the same day as the tutorial. Student complete the set homework after being shown examples and submit homework online, which is marked prior to the tutorial and solutions and correction are discussed in the following tutorial.
