I cannot recommend Aslan highly enough. He has many years of experience, was on time and thorough. He requires student engagement but also makes it fun. In year 8 my daughter came to me saying that she was at the bottom of the top set in Maths and that her teacher thought she would be more comfortable in the lower set – not the kind of confidence knocking experience you want for a growing dyslexic person. A friend recommended Aslan. He assessed my daughter, found the gaps in her knowledge and plugged those. She grew in confidence, beginning to see herself as a Maths success. We carried on with Aslan. From a student struggling with reading and studying at the beginning of secondary school, she blossomed as a learner by GCSE, when she came 7th in her school for GCSE results, including A* in Maths and Statistics. She secured an A* in Maths A’level with Aslan. Besides the results in Maths, Aslan helped my daughter to realise that with dedicated work it is possible to achieve your goals. Unfortunately schools do not have the resources to find gaps in knowledge and plug those before moving on with the curriculum, and that’s essential for confidence and success. Aslan was also very helpful in relation to writing her personal statement for Uni and encouraged her to apply to high-ranking Universities for STEM subjects – the non-parent perspective on this prior to A’level results carried great heft. I’ve recommended Aslan to many.

My review:
I’ve had Aslan as a tutor for many years, throughout primary and secondary, and higher education Aslan has taught me far more than any teacher in a classroom. Aslan knows exactly what style of learning works for a student.
The greatest thing Aslan did for me wasn’t the countless formulas he taught, questions he helped me with, or tests he gave me, the absolute greatest thing Aslan gave me was the mindset needed to achieve the best possible grades. Aslan instilled a work ethic in me that I took with me all throughout education, even throughout University and during COVID, without his teachings I know for a fact I would not have achieved the grades I did.
With that said, Aslan isn’t a wizard (although sometimes I think he might be), he won’t magically flip your grades, you need to be ready to work and willing to put in the time and effort to improve your ability. Aslan will set a clear roadmap that, if you follow, will lead to success, without a doubt.
Coming from someone who was never a massive fan of education and had been through a number of tutors before Aslan, trust me when I say you won’t find another tutor like him, Aslan is simply the best!
(Also, don’t try to cheat on your homework because he’ll know, trust me, I tried 🙂 )

I first met Aslan in year 12 when I started A levels at a new school and was initially predicted D in both Mathematics and Further Mathematics. Aslan helped me improve my grades considerably to predicted A* and A respectively, and I finally achieved A and B. Aslan helped me achieve this success in spite of my very serious dyslexia and was extremely good at breaking down complicated processes into smaller and more easily understandable units which I could then re-build again. Aslan always did a considerable amount of preparation before each of our sessions so the time with him was always spent most efficiently and we covered a lot of ground. Thanks to his support I always felt extremely well prepared before walking into a test on a module he had tutored me on. In many ways Aslan was instrumental in helping be build my knowledge of mathematics and finally deciding to study mathematics at university level. Starting off with Aslan from when I was young and growing with him, I didn’t just see him as a tutor but also a close family friend. Funnily, he has been passed down through my family, helping me and my cousins grow into intelligent, inspired people. We met Aslan for the first time some five years ago, when our daughter started her A levels and needed assistance with catching up with demanding mathematics curriculum in her new school. A friend told her about her tutor Aslan, we got in touch and our daughter started an intense tutoring schedule with him. Her improvement was both quick and continuous and Aslan’s assistance during these two years proved to be invaluable for our daughter’s successful application to study mathematics at university level. This year our daughter graduated in Mathematics and Statistics and is starting a Financial Mathematics master’s course at the CASS business school. I found the sessions very helpful as he would first teach us the content/method and then made sure we understood the technique and how to apply it by going through many past paper questions.
